if you're having problems specifically with 1st and 2nd, check your reverse lockout is correctly adjusted.

That was my first thought, followed by clutch not releasing fully.

I've never had any play in gear levers to cause engagement problems, even with over 400,000 miles.

Morning all, is the reverse lockout the nylon sort of L shaped bush that rest against the plate?..The only other one i could see was the ball bush that sits in the selector housing..Slugg. does your lever have a lot of play..ie..wobbles around..Mine has done this for ages and i have learned to live with it but does on occasion make shifting difficult..would like to get it sorted if not too much of a hassle..Still recovering from the cps change..hj.

As circled- adjuster bracket as finger.
The clearance details are listed in the manual 0.02-0.06
Hope it helps
Bob.
