Asking because I had a 740 2.0 and it was the slowest car on the planet, wondered if the extra 300cc made any differerence, apparently not!! If I thought one of the bricks with the bigger engines shifted a bit better than the one I had I might go back to a petrol, but from your answer it appears they dont!!

Edited to say James that in the thread '740 or 940 estate' you said your car was surprisingly nippy so this is what led me up the garden path!!

I have owned many 240's over the years , both 2.0 and 2.3's . The 2.3 engines have far more grunt than the 2.0 in my opinion .

a 2.0 940 is quicker than a 2.0 740, i noticed that with my da's 940.
a turbo diesel would probably feel sharper i would think.
