It's a matter of perspective though, to us 500 miles is Portsmouth to Scotland which is a pretty rare event maybe one every three or four years might I do that sort of drive

Whereas you would refer to that as quite a normal distance to travel

For me at least the shops and back is like 3 miles (15-20mins of traffic or worse if Saturday) Work and back 5 miles (20-30mins in traffic) this is why my urban reading is so low perks of being near London eh

That said I still would like to see higher long run readings if I had the choice

I tend to go with 36 for tyre psi that seems to get me to optimal mpg as far I can tell

Me too for the 36 psi. Add 10% for highway driving and you get 39.6 psi.
I use 40 and lower it to 36 when I get back home.

Damn right.

Strangely someone already has V70 RRR which would be the best choice.

I did think abou V70R SE for Sweden, but that would be V70 RSE which isn't ideal either.

Car went to the garage for oil change, new rear discs and brake fluid change.

The handbrake seems to work better now too which is an added plus.

That's the last of the service jobs done before the 500 mile round trip to Wales.

Got a couple of days off work...

Changed the pollen filter today. Bit fiddly but easy enough.

Tomorrow is round 2 with the passenger side wheel bearing: tried to change it last weekend as it sounds a bit dodgy. Could NOT get the old one off despite whacking many times with a big hammer. Done a few of these before on my girlfriend's P1 V70 and I've never known one to be this stuck.

Got rained off as well (the joys of working outside on the side of the road).

I'll get a bit of heat on the bearing tomorrow and see if that works, otherwise it'll be a used hub and I'll swap the whole thing over.

Got the wheel bearing off!

Lot of heat.

Lots of big hammer action (that sounds so wrong).

New bearing is on and I'm good to go. The old one was very graunchy. Don't think it'd have lasted much longer. Got a new one for the drivers side, so I might change it as a precaution (no noise form it at the moment).

Your right front bearing went out, you say?
At how many miles?
The one in my '02 went at 177,400 / almost 13 years service.
Replaced with a FAG (Germany) which seemed first class all the way.
My machinist pal told me to pour transmission fluid all over it.
It glistened till the day I sold the car.

Today I organized the next "shot in the arm" for my '07'.
Struts, Volvo mudflaps, pollen filter, windshield molding clips and fluids, all gathered and ready.

I replaced the air filter in the dark just to get something done.
32,500 miles over 41 months made the old one dirty.
We know these filters can go 60K, but I have no qualm retiring a filter from which dirt and wee stones fall.
Ha, a Covid era air filter....should burn it.
