Ok, new cat fitted, used Holts exhaust paste in a tube, really easy to apply. Ran the car at idle for 5 mins and switched it off, to allow the heat from the exhaust to harden the paste. Drove to/from work today and sounds really different, a little more meaty. I cannot see any exhaust leaks and the lambda light has not come on, so all must be well. I will check it over again at the weekend for leaks just in case. Many thanks for all your help guys.
