Default AW50-42LE auto trans filter replacement

Has anyone ever replaced the filter in the AW50-42LE automatic gearbox ?

I can get some a sensible price from the USA I'm thinking about replacing the one in my gearbox to benefit from better quality transmission fluid as the stuff in my autobox has had it after 10,000 miles which isn't good.

There is no easily replaceable filter in the box.

Yeah there are 'tea strainers' inside the box which require a complete strip down to get to.

Totally sh!te design from AW that one.

Also, even if the fluid coming out looks grotty after only 10,000miles that doesn't mean anything unless you conduct a fluid analysis. I've seen clean fluid that's knackered and dirty looking fluid that's fine: it all depends.

I'm putting inline magnetic filters in the oil lines of the auto and the servo. Won't harm, might have some long term benefits.

They look interesting. I could be wrong and probably am but aren't most of the internal structures either alloy or paper in an automatic gearbox ? They have been in most of the other automatic boxes I've taken to bits with exception to a mercedes benz box that had steel springs and ball bearings.

Keep us updated on how your filters are going though will be cheaper and easier than pulling the box to bits
