Default peoples mot emissions results?

Hi there

Just one out of interest as to what people were getting for there emissions results on tests? When I bought my car it was
1.25
0.38 last year
0.28 this year

I've done a a bit of work to the car over time cleaned etc new K&N filter cleaned injectors, EGR etc, But quite pleased this year its still down as the turbo seals are away and I was worried it might fail. Tempted to get it retested after I've done them this weekend but too skint after spending so much on parts recently,

Injectors, return pipes, timing belt, clutch, fly wheel, rear discs (drilled & grooved), goodridge hoses, front and rear pads(yellow stuff), drop links, top mounts, new springs (apex), front arm bushes (superflex).

The Smoke Test Result for my 94 D24Tc in June 2009 was 0.04 L/m, whatever that means. Limit 1.5 L/m. Seems a bit good to be true for a vehicle getting around 35 mpg overall, though I've not done a calculation since the injectors were replaced.

Took my 180BHP D5 for it's first MOT the other day and watched the mechanic try 4 times to get a reading on his analyser but it kept coming back saying that accelaration had not been detected, he gave up at this point stating that the emissions were so low he couldn't detect them!??

My last mot, Oct 2008 for my 1988 760 D24Tic shows 1.39, 2006 shows 2.29, 2007 shows 0.99. The car was not mine then. The previous owner had had a new diesel pump fitted in 2007, looking at these figures this backs this up, he did not have the receipt for the new pump

When I take it for MOT myself in Oct it will be running on 50% veg oil temporarily then, this is what I did with my 940 diesel, it sailed through. Not illegal....

I use 30% biodiesel in my 1999 S40, and I get below 0.5 on the MOT every time. Will try it will 100 bio next time, but I stugle to get enough supply in.

How does your car run on 50% veg? Hopefully it's a Bosch pump on it, unfortunately I can't use veg oil - mine has a Lucas pump, not good for veg, but fine with bio...

Hi

Thanks everyone so far. I've only tried mine on the Bio stuff at the pump and chickened out incase I broke something after a few tanks, I was finding I was getting fewer miles out a tank and slightly slower too, So went back to the Black stuff. Might give it another go once the cars run in again though.

Yes, I have the Bosch fuel pump. If I were to run on 50% all the time or higher I would have to be looking at replacing all the pipes and seals with ones made of that teflon type substance, can't remember what it's called now, the manufacturers have a website, if someone is really desperate to know the name I can find it with a bit of hassle, apparently veg oil does not have the lubricity of diesel and hence problems with seals, etc..

Edited, 'Viton' is the material's commercial name
