Volvo themselves might find you one, but I guess you would be looking at around £3000 for supply and fitting. This would not normally be considered an economic repair.

Otherwise, you will just have to hope that you can find one somewhere. They were rare in their day and even rarer now.

You may also consider replacing the CVT with a secondhand "normal" automatic box or a manual box. ( Even then the labour cost could be prohibitive. )

My elderly mother paid Volvo £2600 to replace the CVT** on a low-mileage 440, about five years ago. That CVT box lasted 15 months. It was eventually replaced again by Volvo ( for a small cost - after legal threats from me ) and is still running well after 5k miles.

** Sad to say that the original CVT had a problem that most people would consider a trivial annoyance - an occasional tendency to stall on slowing to a halt.

Hi Malokkoffe,

I understand from your reply that VolVo UK may be able to find such CVT.
I´m writing you from Belgium and would like to ask you to investigate if it is possible for volvo UK to find a CVT for 440/460.
I would appreciate very much.

very kind regards
