fuel filter
Hello
Being a novice at the old mechanics, I'm wondering how easy it is to locate and change the fuel filter on my 850 tdi '96? any advice and words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! |

It's held in a metal sleeve which screws to the RH inner wing with three nuts. Remove the nuts then you need to loosen the sleeve which then allows the filter to slide out so you can get access to unscrew it from the top part. A strap wrench is useful plus you need to counterhold the top part of the filter housing with a socket. Also the fuel pipes need detaching from their clips - careful with these plastic clips! It may be tight. It's recommended that you fill the new filter with diesel (before fitting) to avoid prolonged priming (with the starter motor I mean). Regards.

I found filter would only come off afteer loosening the large nut on top of filter housing (with the metal pipe attached - but proceed with care!)
Didn't bother priming, an started after about 5 goes, no problem. R. |
