I read all the thread in one breath, I can only admire the car, its history, its conditions, your works and your abilities.
And I'm really glad you doubled the work, not only improving the car but also writing everything down so we can read and see that.

I can only agree with Billy Smalls, you're a benchmark.

Please continue to share with us your work!

You may find that your rear brake light causes a lot of glare in the back window, and interior. This is why they are boxed into the rear window so all of the light shows outside and not inside.

An update:

Olga had some wear damage on the driver's seat base

I swapped the left and right cushions, to even out the wear, and repaired the damaged one. It's not perfect, but looks fine in the car

(Rather than go through all the process here, I have done it as an article and asked the Forum Admin to post it)

I used Furniture Clinic products, including glue, filler, surface prep and colourant matched to a sample I posted

https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/

The colour match can't be perfect on this type of vinyl, because the original has a base colour with a slight dark 'dappling' printed over the top. A repair product can't replicate this exactly. My repairs aren't invisible, but all in all it's good enough for a satisfactory repair

All for now, more soon

Cheers

John

Exclamation

A small update.

I have always disliked the cheapskate cardboard boot trim volvo used on the 100 saloons.

I considered making something different but at least on Olga it fits quite well, so instead I covered it using self adhesive carpet.

I used two pieces of carpet on this section, so that both edges of the split could have an overlap onto the back

Looks much nicer inside the boot with the sides carpeted

That's all for today,

Cheers

John

No time to do a full update due to sad family problems, but a quick post to say that I finally have the V5, and Olga is now on the road and running well

Default Great Work John

Great work John, You are my kind of person

you do a good job and keep them in great condition with period accessories and mods of the cars era, Brilliant!!!!

A lesser man would either break them up or scrap em or do boy racer mods,
none of which I agree with.

Andy
