Lowering...
Looking for a set of shocks and lowering springs (all round), but there doesn't seem to be much about for the 940's ?
What's everyone else using/used in the past ? Cheers |

I used BC BR series coilovers and think they are fantastic...having first tried GAZ shocks and Kilen lowering springs. Not that cheap at nearly 800 quid but well worth it imo, plus you get pillow ball top mounts which means you can get a degree or two of negative camber which helps handling and reduces tyre wear on the front. There are not a lot of choices as you say.... Other than that it's a case of Bilsteins and lowering springs like most people use. Upper and lower strut braces at the front will tighten up the handling a bit and reduce understeer. Uprating the ARB's will help a lot too... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BC-Racing...kAAOSw0xRZoFLx Last edited by deeman940; Feb 25th, 2018 at 06:53. |

Thanks for the replies...
Just been looking at your site actually classic swede, what brand are your lowering springs ?, or are they your own 'in house' sort of thing ? Can you supply bilstein/or similar shocks ? Cheers |

The springs are my own brand made in the UK items.
Shocks yes can supply more basic ones like B4's, is that what you were thinking of using? |

Standard lowering for 940’s is 40mm with easily available springs (I’ve got Kileen) and Bilstein B4 dampers. Tightened up the suspension (especially on mine as the old dampers weren’t actually damping much at all!) and makes it handle much better.
If you go for more sporty dampers (Bilstein b6 or similar) you start risking an overly firm ride but if you’re wanting to up the power a lot and start throwing the car round a lot more then they might be for you. 40mm drop is ok but any more than that you’re going to need an adjustable pan hard rod as the rear axle moves to one side as it gets lower - the adjustable rod enables you to bring it back to the centre. Also have a look at the “camber mod” online which increases the negative camber on the front to help the cornering.

Will your 40mm springs lower all 940's exactly 40 mil ? How long are they likely to have 20% off ?, as it might be into next week before I order them now, also... how long is delivery ? Cheers |

There are cheaper 40mm options. I’ve got these https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-940-M...28.m4335.l8656
Nice quality springs. I wouldn’t pay more than £120 for a full 40mm set. edit - found these for £90!! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F272747642370
