Help!! Noise after cam belt change
Only noise I had before was from a knackered aux belt tensioner! So I've fitted a cam belt new tensioner and idler pulleys and new aux belt a tensioner. On startup I had a noise that sounded like something touching the plastic cover, there on idle disappears when you Rev the engine but comes back as the engine revs drop to idle.
Disconnected the aux belt, removed all the plastic covers and the damper plate round the bottom pulley, still there, changed out both cam pulleys and put the old ones back on, still there. I don't think it's the water pump I've put an ear to a long screwdriver on it and the noise dosent seem to be coming from there. I've pressed and pulled the remaining plastic cover to no avail. It's got me at a loss, any help appreciated! I don't have much hear anyway so don't want to lose what I've got left.

You definitely got the idlers on the right place and nothing buffing on them ?
I'd take the belt back off and check the bearing in the water pump and turn it by hand to be absolutely sure.

I've changed both pulleys back to the old ones and I'm sure their fitted right, I checked the water pump again, there's no play in it and it spins smoothly I'm at a loss.
Am I right in thinking the oil pump is on the end of the crank? I hope it's not that!

Update, well I've been off sick for while and only got back to looking into this today. Well it would appear it's the water pump that's gone noisy after changing the cam belt. So what's the story with these pumps? Looking one up for my car shows differing pumps, mine has 14 teeth with gaps but some are listing 19 tooth pumps with no gaps, are they the same overall or do I need to replace think for think?
Thanks in advance Steve
