Default Replacing rubber seals around window

The rubber around the small triangular front window on my '68 P1800S has perished and I am trying to replace it. Having taken the trim off the door and fiddled about with various bits I still can't work out how to take the window out in order to be able to replace the rubber. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,
Colin

Hi Colin,

You will need to remove the complete quarter window assembly. There are some mounting screws (2 I think) on the front edge of the door just below the edge of the chrome window surround (only visible with the door open), remove these with a philips screwdriver.

As you've already removed the door trim, the other remaining securing bolts are at the bottom of the forward door glass channel which is an extension of the quarter window assembly. These two bolts are fiddly to get at and you will need to be careful not to allow the door glass to drop into the door bottom as you remove them from the bracket welded to the door carcass.

With all of these screws and bolts removed, the quarter window assembly can be removed upwards from the door carcass. I would suggest getting someone to assist you as putting it all back together is much easier with two pairs of hands!

Be prepared for some grazed knuckles and swearing...good luck!

Regards,

Paul
