I don't like the fact that water runs off the roof straight through the drivers window (and onto my arm). Headlights aren't brilliant. I've cracked two windscreens so far, when getting airbourne of hump backed bridges! Never happened in any of my other cars over the same bridges.. On the plus side, the car was cheap to buy and is relatively cheap to run (if you know where to go).. |

The poxy piece of Hideously Expensive (£1500) fixed piece of 'Crap' called the "Volvo GPS System".
When compared to a completely mobile 'TomTom' or 'Garmin' stacks up as follows: 1) Cannot load any additional POI's, but Volvo made sure all their Dealerships were 'loaded'! 2) Limited to a total of 7 way points in any one journey. 3) Navigation/Maps stop when you reach the border of certain EU Countries so you have to unload the boot, lift up the floor to remove the Map DVD, then insert the next one to continue your journey, repeating the exercise on your return. Try that 3 times on a European Tour with a boot full of Camping Gear! 4) Have to program your journey in the car with the engine running! I understand that Volvo now include this 'item' for FREE in any new vehicle but I still think about the saying "There is no such thing as a FREE LUNCH" so somebody must be paying for it? |

Lol, shouldn't laugh, we've got a hump back bridge near here and flying 760s and 940s don't crack windscreens, glad to see I'm not the only one that loves to fly!!

I think the 850/70 series chassis is more floppy than the 7/900 series one. My S70 feels to flex if you take a speedbump slightly sideways (in a car park, for example) in a way I've never experienced in any other model of Volvo. Perhaps the weight of steel has been used to provide better crash protection at the expense of chassis rigidity? The two don't necessarily go hand-in-hand...
cheers James

On Amazons, someone in the design / engineering dept thought it would be a good idea to attach the dampers via a thread on the top & bottom of the shafts. This works fine when fitting new ones, but trying to undo that nut when they're old is nigh on impossible, as the flats on the end round instantly, and so there's no way of stopping the shaft turning.
Found this out over the weekend when trying just to change a knackered bush. In the end, I had no choice but to cut the dampers out (hacksawing through the top bush just below the nut) & then fit replacement shocks too.

XC60 D5 SE Lux Premium
Don't like: 1. The occasional gruffness of the new twin-scroll D5. 2. Should have bigger wheels, 18" are just to small and dissapears in the wheel arches. 3. Why no CD Changer AND a USB connection at the same time?? S40 2.0D R-Design SE Sport 1. Software related gearchanges when going from "D" to "R". Just too slow! 2. Why did Volvo skimp on Autodimming Rear View Mirror on this model???

Beige Alcantara seats. Standard front brakes. Headlamp wash/wipe,especially when you've just washed & waxed the car.

1998 v40 2.0 litre
the ride is terrible every bump is transmitted to the nether regions,it does get better the faster you go though as does the handling but you have to dodge every pothole that the 960 glides over
