I had the same problem. All resellers deny that there was a pattern change though so still say they fit the 850s.

Have you been able to track down new covers? Like yours my bolt covers have broken - but unlike yours in a far more jagged and less uniform break!

I had a couple of small dents removed by a local firm via paint-less dent removal. I have realised that the front off-side wing needs some work as it is starting to show signs of bubbling. Time to gear up for some bodywork repairs!

Default Oil change

Ordered new filter for my '96 850, delivered today. Went out to take the car for a warm-up and found n/s side light not working. Replaced bulb, success. Called at petrol station for some , now, cheap juice and couldn't open the filler cover. Looked in manual and decided it was too complicated to pull out the floor etc so went back home to sort it. Pulled the sump plug and while it was draining, removed the trim from the luggage compartment to get at the emergency release. Of course now it locks and releases fine, at the moment! Replaced the sump plug with new crush washer and installed new filter. Got out the almost full "fresh" oil container only to find it was the used oil from the previous oil change. All on hold until fresh oil arrives!

There should be a wire pull attached to a plastic lug on the fuel flap lock servo which you reach by removing the the O/S rear light cluster cover, pulling the loop towards the rear light cluster unlocks the fuel flap.
I think the metal pull was discontinued in the first of the V70s and certainly isn't fitted in the P2's - mmy V70 has a home-fitted nylon strimmer line as a pull.

Redye'd the trim. I last applied the trim dye on March 2019 so it lasted well over a year. I've now had three applications out of that tube of Wurth Dye-Plast PT, which cost £23. That's pretty cost-effective! This time I took the time to remove the trim pieces at the bottom of the taillights and beneath the headlights to maximise the amount of trim I could treat. Then as usual, just a thorough degreasing before two coats of the dye.

Next up, and inspired by the work of one chap on a different forum, I bought a small pack of Whitemorph and used it to repair some broken trim mounts on my column shroud. I was very surprised by how economical this product was, I must have only used about 10g to make both these. It also has quite a long work-time, which is excellent for fine-tuning or awkward areas. One of the mounts is threaded two, I assembled the shroud off the car, put the fastener in place and then moulded it around the fastener and remnants of the old mount. Its easy to drill, easy to sand, and very east to get a nice smooth finish with if it were to be used in a visible area. Very impressed!

Started the C70 today for the first time since the MOT in February - another instantaneous start on the first turn of the key even though the alarm has been permanently on - Aldi solar battery maintainers works wonders.

I got the same result with the V70 last week.

...purchased it

Technically it was yesterday but close enough. Actually this is a "welcome back" as I first owned an 850 10 years ago and have just come back for more!

I shall be using this forum a lot as I navigate through the niggles and fixing issues etc.

Replaced the passenger side mirror glass with new heated Volvo glass obtained for a good price from a certain auction site.

Sold my 2011 s60 to my mate so the t5 is getting dragged out the lock up today for weekend use. Today’s jobs include full valet and replacing the heater resistor that’s been sitting for months just waiting to get installed.
New timing belt and pump getting fitted during the week as it’s been a few years since the last one then it’s on to my new purchase of a c30 t5.
