Upgrades to my S40 1.6D (remap, reverse camera, DPF flush)
So bought my S40 about 4 months ago. It’s a high spec with adaptive headlights, performance audio, keyless entry etc. It had 88k and one owner from new (2010).
It’s a lovely car to drive, but having researched the car before buying I was aware the DPF hadn’t been replaced and it’s about 13k miles over what Volvo suggest a replacement. But it runs sweet. Firstly I cleaned the MAF... always do so with a new car. But the MPG is about 54mpg, way below Volvo’s figures. So I had the car remapped recently. It added 33bhp to the car and 80nm (allegedly). So initially I’d say the fuel economy is up about 2-3mpg... but noticeably the torque and power are smoother on delivery and it pulls up hills now without me having to go down through the gears. In essence this is a much nicer car to drive now. Remap done by Flash Remapping (FlashRemapping.co.uk) and cost £265 all in. I have added an Auto-Vox V5 rear view mirror/dash cam/ reverse cam which is awesome and took about 2 hours to fit. It records front and rear dashcam at 1080p and is an excellent reverse cam built into a rear view mirror. Next week the car goes in for a DPF flush/clean. No codes or issues, but guess it makes sense to do this before the DPF gets blocked. I’ll update on how the DPF clean affects the car, performance, MPG.
