Default xc90 T6 316bhp spec owners

I am looking for xc90..have been looking at the T6 316bhp version..

so i know it is a 2.0 supercharger turbo.

but what is the reliability like on these?? i have read lot horror stories about older models regarding the gearbox etc does this also effect the 2015+ models??

Also what are the real world MPG figures

I am looking at the petrol model as I do max 8k a year and mainly short journeys

anything i should be looking out for?

Thanks

Seeing as a T8 is just a heavier T6.....

No major mechanical gremlins have come up yet with the drivertrain, seems ok so far.

Fuel consumption? Drive it like you stole it and expect to be below 20. Regular motorway maybe up to 30mpg, possibly 35 if you drive at no more than an indicated 70 and are very gentle. Round town maybe mid 20s, but difficult to judge as it is round town where the T8 really delivers on fuel consumption, so mine is always better than that.

T6 was not a popular choice for purchase, so a lot of used T6s will have been on a rental fleet or volvo UK cars. Pricey to run for fuel so used cars shouldn't have mega miles on them. If your mileage is only 8k a year then maybe the T6 makes a decent secondhand choice.

You should post your question to some US Volvo forum. Since they do not have diesels there and fuel is cheap, T6 is quite popular (together with T8 of course).

These new 8 speed gearboxes will not let you do anything to harm them, even in manual mode they will override you and change up or down if it detects too high revs or too low speed for any gear. They will not let you overstrain them.

So the 8speed is the ones to look out for...i know the old xc90 had some gearbox issues as it could not handle the power.

Sounds like overall it would is a reliable car as long as you keep up with the maintenance..Either that or just not a lot of people have them in the UK lol

It is still quite new, but a trawl through the forum will show up some of the common issues.

Mostly it has been software issues and gremlins which have mainly been ironed out now. 20 inch tyres were reported as being very noisy due to resonance issues.

I cannot recall any major mechanical issues regularly cropping up on these cars yet. All are autos and all iirc are the same 8 speed auto.

All 8 speed now. The new gearbox is used in many other manufacturers cars all over the world.
