I made the mistake of putting the new o-ring right at the end of the thread, flush against the housing, nope, it needs to go back one thread from the housing if i remember right not all the way flush.

I ALWAYS changed the seal when i change my oil (i change my oil every 6000/8000 miles, with MANN filter. Like the fuel filter 2 times a year) i always put oil around the seal before close it. I always do hand tight.

I know its leaking under the oil filter housing. I can post photos
Around where the oil filter goes there is no oil leaking.

Photos would help as they/it would narrow down the possibilities.

There are a couple of seals between the block and the filter housing. Looks like one of them needs replacing.

After noon , you need to buy the TWO O rings seals that filter between the filter hounsing & the engine blck . Due to age , time & anything else we can blame the seal become flattened & that is why the leak has occurred . One is a simple O-ring , the other is a linked 3 ring seal . Clean the grooves gently , remove any corrosion on mating faces & use a dab of grease to secure the seals prior to installation .

https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...using/1028059/ is your most likely failure

Good luck hope that helps you sort your problem
