Default V50 ipod connection kit

Hi i have on order a v50 D5 SE which might be hear in April. As I understand the 07 models come with an AUX conection point behind the middle console. Where could I find a good Ipod mounting kit for it? I dont want to block the heating vents up. I have also upgraded the radio to the premium sound system. I have read such bad things about this car I hope I havent made a mistake!!!!. My old car is a C-MAX which is ok. I was expecting a little better in the volvo. Are they all that bad?

I wouldn't change my S40 D5 for anything !

The aux in is ok and I just tend to leave the ipod in the 'bin' behind the console. Of course you can't change tracks etc while driving but I just tend to leave it on a playlist.

Having a search around this website might turn something up for you

harman/kardon Drive+Play :

iPod in the armrest box, nice chunky controller wheel to navigate and a separate screen. On my car I have to use an FM modulator but the Drive+Play has a line out as well so you could connect to your line-in.

Hi Mark,

I was wondering how you connected the FM modulator. Did you (or someone!) somehow connect it to your radio or does it just transmit the signal as an iTrip would do? The HK system sounds like the ideal solution and you can get it for under £50 now but I don't want to have to fiddle about with the stereo!

Cheers

Jamie

The modulator is wired into the antenna feed (top of the offside rear window) via a pair of home-made leads, so you get better sound quality than an FM transmitter.

Default Aux Connection point

Is there any way to upgrade a 2005 V50 SE to have an aux connection point like the 2007 model??

brick wizard, see this post
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=26818

i stripped a new unit when i had a v50 2006 with aux in and thats what they look like, i would still be adamant that this newer all in one cd player would fit into a pre 2006 model as long as you re routed the wiring for the fm signal from rear parcel shelf to the front of the car

Hello All,

I have a MY07 S40, with high performance audio (incl. AUX connector).
The brochure says that iPod can be controlled from the steering wheel, which obviously looks like a bluff.

I have searched the forums, found both the Harman-Kardon kit, as well as the Volvo iPod adapter on the Volvo Installation Instructions site.

The challange is that the Volvo iPod adapter is only available from MY08.
Since I would prefer using the Volvo display, rather than having additional displays on the dasboard, I would appreciate any suggestions how I can get my iPod connected and controlled from the steering wheel.

Thanks a lot.

Default iPOD & USB

The iPOD and USB is stated as an option for the 2008 model according to the Volvo website. I don't have an iPOD but have used USB sticks in my previous audio system (Sony) and it worked a treat.

Just wondering if the USB option is an 'option' for the 2007 S40?
