Hey guys. I have a 2010 S80 1.6 eco (my second Volvo). Love it but been advised to have a go at cleaning the EGR valve. Can anyone tell me where it is and do I need any special tools, also planning to fit a new fuel filter this weekend. Is that easy?
Thanks |

I think your car has a PSA engine, not a Volvo engine.
Does your engine look like this? This video shows how to replace the fuel filter.
The EGR valve is behind the fuel filter in the engine bay.

So the reason I was checking the egr was because of weird intermittent stuttering while driving. Sometimes very minor, sometimes works perfectly. Sometimes so bad I slow right down and worry I'm not going to make it far.
EGR had a bunch of fine black powder in there so I cleaned it out with EGR cleaner and put back together fine, no leaks. Bought a fuel filter to fit but didn't want to bother unless I know it's that as that was nearly £50 from halfords on it's own. My dads mate said I also shouldn't do it because It's pressurized and I could let air into the system ![]() It's been to the garage, a garage had it for nearly 2 months. They said the ecu was blown due to water getting in there. They found another ecu, paid a company to clone it, replaced the throttle pedal (don't know why) and it's still doing the same thing, also had a new battery at Christmas. Pulling my hair out. Been charged over £700 for what feels like nothing. Booked in at a different garage tomorrow but would love any advice? Last edited by DJAudits; Mar 25th, 2024 at 10:22. |

Fuel filter I bought from halfords is Bosch N2204, I'll give it to the new garage and ask him to throw it on
