Default 740 fault code 2-3-2

I have a 1990 740 auto with B230F engine and LH-Jetronic fuel injection. The tickover is slow (400 - 600 rpm) and the fault code is 2-3-2, adaptive lambda control lean or rich-idle. I have changed the air filter but with no result. The fault doesnt seem to be in the sensor because I assume it would show up as a fault at normal running as well. Any ideas? regards Romar

If the car drives OK then my code list suggests fuel pressure is too high or you have a leaky injector. The sensor is picking this up and would seem to be OK.

All the best, Peter.

Peter, Thanks for your help. I tested the fuel presure and injectors but no luck. Your advice set me thinking so I performed a functional test and got a code 3-3-3 instead of 3-3-2 when dropping back from full throttle open. Assuming that this had to be some sort of problem indicator I pulled down the idle switch cleaned it and the multiplug up with WD40, put it back and re-set, Bingo the revs are back where they should be.(On the other hand it could have been down to the shouting and swearing) Again many thanks for your reply

Regards Romar
