Default Amazon rear end and 544

Question, will an Amazon wagon (63-68) rearend fit into a 62 544? Is it the same Dana Spicer 27? Will the carrier and internals work?

The wagons had two different axles so that is something to think about. For you I would guess that just finding another PV axle would be the best bet and the most economical way to solve your problem. I suspect that you will also ask the question on Brickboard............

Wagon axles are rarer and more valuable. If it's the axle ratio you're after an overdrive Amazon is the same as a wagon and I think the saloon (sedan) axle is more similar to the PV externally. It may even be identical.

I looked at three cars yesterday. Two had the Dana 23 and the wagon had the 4.56 ration. My 62 has the Dana 27 with 4.1.

Does anyone have the spacer sleeve (Thrust block) in the carrier, that holds the shafts in place? That is cracked in half and may be a good place to start in replacing it.

A Jeep shop might be able to help you with the spacer.
