If you could unbolt the whole bracket it might be easier to separate on the bench?
At the worst, you could cut the sensor part to bits as you intend replacing it anyway.

Thanks clifford..went back today and no luck ..its well tight.i managed to rotate it as as far as i could with much penetrating fluid and hammer and bar but my god its tight..I agree that now my only choice is to remove bracket..one nut is fairly straight forward but must be careful not to drop it into casing the other one as far as i can fathom could possibly be accessed by removing front exhaust pipe and from below..its crazy that one standard ten mill bolt is holding the whole job up..getting bored now with this..thanks again.hj..ps she missed her 30th birthday party due to ilhealth..i planned to get a whole band into the car .

Well back out again this morning to do some quality staring at a now well beaten stuck cps.having managed to rotate it in the cup but not able to return to its original position it was decided to try to remove bracket.I dropped front pipe where splits into two to try and gain access to bracket bolt. This to me was impossible to do..So a cup of tea later and more penetrating oil i wondered if i could knock the senor back around to original position.Went back under car (Turned the wheels all the way left and removed drivers side mudguard which was sticking in my chest).I dont have a suitable jack and the scissor jack i do not trust.it was possible to see now turned sensor from under car.I took a long thin aluminium bar and hammer and gently knocked it around to original position.back up again to to check it with my hand only to find that it had raised up out of the cup by half an inch..Well such joy have i never felt!..I tied the senor connector to bonnet under some tension and knocked it back around again from above and finally out it came by hand.I cursed it yes i did.Greased new sensor and fitted into cup but would not sit down for love nor money.it was spinning freely but would not sit.Removed new sensor and checked bracket with hand to find the an inner sleeve/bush had raised up with the removal of old cps.Another cup of tea and staring i cut a small piece of timber that sat over the now protruding bush and with the thin alu bar gently tapped it down with my slightly bent alu bar from above down the back of the engine until flush with bracket face.popped the new sensor in.could not get the ten mil bolt in position from above with shakey greasy fingers so tried from below.(nearly lost it in the casing ) but manged to pop it in and also tightened from below.Exhaust back on connected cps connector held my breath and turned the ignition and it fired right up.This was the hardest job i have ever done on my 240 with only simple tools and a driveway and i hope this will help someone else in the future.hj.
