Rubber Mounts
Hi All,
Over the past decade I have been lucky if my centre silencer rubber mounts lasted longer than a year. Most if not all 240s have a centre silencer normally held in place or otherwise by a pair of rubber rings similar to the drive belts old 'Hoover' vacuum cleaners used. I wonder if any of you out there have a similar problem to myself, are the rubber rings being sold the wrong size? are the hooks on my Volvo too far apart? are the hooks on my silencer too far apart? Does anyone know what the correct size of rubber ring should be? For the past few years I have been persevering with 50mm internal diameter rings, these seem to be the largest I can find and even these can only be fitted by resorting to winding a length of rope around the silencer through the trailing arm and winding it in with a piece of stick to get the remaining ring over the hook. As ever any help would be most appreciated. Scott |

Dai's stainless steel exhausts use poly rings - significantly larger in x-section than a Hoover drive belt (thank goodness...). He supplied all when I bought an exhaust from him a while back
Might be worth giving him a shout at ClassicSwede to see if he'd let you have a couple of rings? Good luck |
