Emmison service light on my '99 S80- Why?!
Hi,
I have a 1999 S80 2.4 which has served me every well for over two years, covering nearly 50000 miles in that time, with a total of over 148000! Only issue I have is a message in the drivers display area saying 'emmision service due', and a small orange light (lamda) stays on. The car seems exactly the same to drive as she always has done, so I doubt there is anything too much wrong. However, if someone could maybe confirm / deny before I head to my local Volvo specialist, as I like to be pre warned if possible! Many thanks, Carl. |

Possibly the oxygen sensor but without reading the codes you won't be sure. There's too many things it could be.

Emission service light
Hi, I just bought a '99 S80 2.4 and 100miles into my bring it back home journey it came on. I rang the bloke, he seemed genuine enuf and said he had tried to get it reset for me - the garage he used said it was 1 of 3 O2 sensors somewhere near the cat and had tried to clear it by disconnecting the batt for an hour as the garage had told him it could be a temp fix to sell the car as he could not get the £50 sensor in before I was due to pick up the car. I still have the light on and a message in the display, so I took it to an indie Volvo specialist near Wigan - its going to be hooked up to read the fault 2mrw £45 - but reading posts it could be not putting fuel cap on properly, gunged up plennum, breather pipes, fouled injectors, ETM (electronic throttle module) fault, lambda fault, 1 of 2 other O2 sensors 1 b4 and 1 behind the cat - these could need replacing or cleaning could resolve or the electric contacts could have dried and require re-soldering. As u can probably see I haven't a damn clue where to start so I opted for the garage, and as I dont have a lambda warning light - mines an orange engine sillouette (probably a different version of the same fault as yours) I will let u know how I went on. Emmission Light
HMMMM I just got the diagnostic report (the wife took it in), apart fom a raft of door locked sensors intermittant faults and comm probs with DDM and and PDM - the main prob seems to be ECM-2110 Front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S), preheating; Signal too high. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice or help on this cos I thought the codes all began with a P0023 etc. I really need some help cos the guy at the garage quoted £196.50 +VAT plus fitting and yep this is an inde Volvo specialist. Incidentally even tho the car is a T plate '99 the garage have claimed the car is a year 2000, engine B5244S2 and a M56 gearbox - anyone any advice/background/experience with thes or are they box standard stuff - but why is it a S2 eng on a '99 model???????? Still none the wiser

The S2 indicates it is a 140bhp engine instead of a 170bhp version in which case the "2" would not be there. The general view is that the 30bhp difference is all managed by the ECU and there are no mechanical differences between the two engines.

Denso
And it would have a DENSO ECU but using lots of Bosch bits and pieces all over the engine.

Black wire 13.9v running. 12.4v ignition on not running Black wire 12.6v running. 11.3v ditto. Blue wire 3.77v running. 3.77v ditto. White wire 3.77v running. 3.77v ditto. Any thoughts please. I’d start a thread but not allowed currently! Car runs fine. Originally had two faults. ECM 9150 fixed (seems to be but still waiting for light to go out to confirm)by repairing the throttle body at BBA. Light still on due Lambda sensor issue. I will clean the MAF, but the perculiar voltages suggest something wrong with ECU or the sensor or the wiring maybe. Any thoughts please. The car has a Prins LPG system fitted for reference. |

Emmision - Lambda sensor
Hi,
Appreciate with some help. My 2008 V50 2.4 petrol auto, emission light came on recently, garage said it was the Lambda sensors, replaced both front and rear, drove for 2 days light back on, then said one of the replaced sensors was faulty. Now the emissions light gone out and does not flash up when the ignition is started, I have a feeling something is not right, so is the light supposed to come on for a few secs when car is started and is there any way I can tell if the sensors have been changed, any help would be great. |
