I was about to suggest the same - the late 115bhp S/V40 TD's are quite nice and produce 260nm, so should still go rather nicely.

I've got the 115bhp Diesel and it's a pretty good car and I get at least 45mpg week in week out, can get up to 50 if on a long run.

thankyou for all your comments and suggestions,i would have an s40/v4 diesel but i'm looking for something very cheap and i think i would not get a decent volvo diesel for the figure i have in mind,thankyou for your feedback though
