Default Oil leak - Driveshaft

I have an XC90 on a 2005 plate 3.0 ltr petrol. I have had an auto gearbox problem that has supposedly been replaced with a recon one. The garage is now telling me that there is a driveshaft leak. They are telling me that there is a seal inside the the shaft that has failed and is allowing oil to travel down the shaft and leak out of the N/S outer CV boot.
Are they taking the p*** or can this occur.
Has any one ever heard of or come across this?

Dave

yes unfortunatly and you will need another new gearbox as the clutches will be contaminated with Graphite grease , not good . The driveshaft /CVjoint is likely to need renewing too as the CV joint would wear with atf swilling around in it for a long time .

Default Auto Gearbox Oil leak

I booked my car in few days back at the Volvo dealer as I was advised of oil leak at the last service. They have advised me on 'Gearbox driveshaft seals leaking oil, transferbox seals leaking oil and gearbox oil replacement' totalling to £1,100 including Parts & Labour of 8hrs.

Could anyone advise on similar encounters?
