xc90 coolant loss
I really thought that after the subframe bush debacle the car was finally sorted and my wallet could finally stop haemorrhaging cash on the old girl, but no......
This week I've had the message 'coolant low stop safely' come up when driving, sure enough the coolant was low and was duly topped up with about 300ml of deionised H2O. Parked up overnight & no coolant loss identified in the morning, but again after 20miles said message was back and coolant needed topping up another 300ml. Checked the cap- all fine, no obvious crack in expansion tank and no obvious leak on rad or underneath. No bubbles of gas in tank when running and no mayo on oil cap or xs water out of the exhaust so head gasket likely fine. Today took it to be pressure tested at local garage and they've identified the source of leak at the back of the engine from a coolant pipe that runs across the top of the engine in aluminium then links to a rubber pipe, that bifurcates into two before joining another metal u shaped joint pipe that seems to be where the leak is coming from. Only trouble is I can't find the identity of the part online.... Can anyone help id it for me please if you have a VIDA schematic of the coolant system at the rear of the engine bay passenger side that would be awesome!! TIA Picture of culprit attached |

Which two numbers take up places 6 and 7 In your 17 digit chassis number?

Don't worry.
D5244T4 was the only 2007 D5 version.

Thanks, unfortunately I still can't see the part I'm looking at. Is there anymore detail with the hoses going into the firewall on the passenger side?

I know its not a proper fix, but of you can see where the leak is coming from, would you consider using this temporarily ?
http://www.diy.com/departments/evo-s.../191081_BQ.prd I've just used it on a stainless fitting in my mothers (until she will let me turn the heat in off to replace a radiator valve !) and its real good. It sets in 10 mins, hardens in an hour, and doesn't need heat to cure. The pressure in a central heating system is over 1 bar and its fine. Cured her weeping valve. It may tide you over until you can find the part and replace it. |
