Default new battery causes faults

My son repced the battery on his 53 s60 d5 yesterday.
It now has a few issues which are the memory seats not memorising and the dashboard time reseting. Also the alarm keeps going off.

Thanks
SC

Try locking/unlocking driver's door 3 times with the fob. May as well try removing the alarm siren fuse (38 from dash side) see if it helps

Did you do the correct procedure to connect it? The volvo way says ignition in pos2 and afterwards connect the new battery.

If not, try it again, with at least 30 minutes between disconnecting and correct reconnecting. It's worth a try...

Smile voltage

might be worth putting a dvm on the battery or the big red cable thats under the bonnet to see what its voltage is, in the following key positions

1 everything off, keys out
2 ignition on dash lights on, but not started
3 when cranking the engine over, before it starts
4 after starting up

just incase the voltage is not what it ought to be ..

Also worth checking and cleaning battery terminals and also that the new battery holds a good charge. Voltage instability will bring up more faults that you can count!

And reset the car and clear all faults once the new battery is in.
Then go for a few drives and see what comes back...

Clock resetting and alarm triggering are fairly symptomatic of battery disconnect or very low voltage. Check the terminals and what is the state of charge of the new battery.

Read all your fault codes then clear them. I've had similar issues with forgotten seat positions and spurious faults relating to things like door locking after a low battery, but after clearing all fault codes the seat memory functions again, and the other fault codes don't reappear.
