i think i have found it . i have also found how to show the real caller number (instead of "Bluetooth") if you dial it directly from the cellphone . so now just implement it (hope this weekend).

Do you think it would be possible to, in theory, develop a Bluetooth modem replacement that could retain On Call functionality? Maybe run in tandem with the existing modem unit?

there is not chance how to run in tandem. and because it uses a data (GPRS/EDGE/maybe 3G) then it's not possible to make it works with bluetooth module.

some news today. now it's possible to activate microphone. there are two options how to do it. by double press "next track" button (not works on the steering wheel in SAT mode) and then accept the "incomming" call. or dialling contact "!Microphone". due to exclamation it should be on the first place (or close) in the phonebook.
and if you dial a phone number from the cellphone then you can see this number on the dashboard instead of "Bluetooth".

- Modem: You can activate a microphone by dialing contact “!Microphone”.
- Radio: You can activate a microphone by double press “next track” button.

the most of texts are possible to edit to your self. but not the bluetooth module settings menu. if you want add also your language then send me these translated texts in your language and i will add it into setting menu:

maximum length 9 chars:
- "Update"
- "<your language>"
- "Microphone x" - on the screen in english "Mic. x"
- "Speaker x"
- "Phonebook on" - on the screen in english "Cont. on"
- "Phonebook off" - on the screen in english "Cont. off"

maximum length 11 chars:
- "Pairing?"

maximum length 12 chars:
- "Syncing..."
- "Bluetooth" (if different )

Just wondering if anyone has fitted this and used a Y splitter as I'm looking at getting one and have RTI and am awaiting an iMIV too - I'm hoping it'll all work happily together!

i know about man who has RTI + bt module connected with "Y" cable and imiv (because of rear camera). you can have some problem with imiv (audio quality) because of some internal imiv audio grounding (probably depends on the model).
this can happen, but it's probably quite common: youtube example (not use my module)

but quite lot of people use RTI + bt module with "Y" cable.

I'm the man Marek is mentioning. I have iMIV LE+ and have to add 8DIN adapter cable not connecting audio signals between iMIV and RTI to disable ground loop problem. Now i have rear camera on RTI and audio over Marek's BT module.
