Default Clicks - Drive Shafts?

The topic listing seems rather short and generally dated, so instigated by the latest S60 event I propose increasing the topic content by around 100% and hopefully generate some more activity now the dark evenings are fast arriving:

First topic is really information (2002 model Yr) – After some 5000miles audible clicks were sometimes heard when moving off, thought maybe the odd twitch with the disc pads. Later on with louder and more frequent occurrence and nothing obvious to see I decided to make a tape via microphone under a wheel arch, it can be so difficult getting someone to hear what you want!

On playing the tape the technician said we know what that is, it’s drive shafts, there is a known fault. Apparently the fix is to use Locktite on the end coupling which usually works, in my case it failed, so they ordered two new shafts. These arrived and were fitted 7 days later which was pretty good service.

Hopefully Volvo know where the duff ones are, will be listening out in another 5000 miles just in case. - Problem probably best detected starting a slow reverse up an incline.

Default RE: Clicks - Drive Shafts?

Thanks for the posting, I have noticed mine clicking, particularly when moving from FWD to RVS or vice versa. It's due a service in a few weeks - I'll get them to check the shafts.
