It could be a nice car but not for what they're asking.
So the search continues |

You were lucky not buying it. It had only 65k miles ? I think it was missing a 2

The condition would suggest its had a hard 63k miles. My old saab 9-5 with nearly 200k was in better condition.
The seller seemed genuinely surprised I wasn't going to buy it. Even after it stalled and left me stranded for a few minutes. Luckily I'm in no rush. Hopefully a nice one will come up. |

I'm not certain, but I thought from back when I was buying mine that 2005 was the first year of the 2.4 engine in a T5, and that a 2004 would be a 2.3. That may well not be a problem to you, but it could be worth double checking which you are actually getting in this car.
Is it a facelift style body, or the older look? I would also add that if any car you look at has the adjustable 4C suspension, then check all four shock absorbers for any sign of oil leakage. My car had passed several MoTs before I bought it with the comment "slight misting of oil from shock absorbers". But, I had to replace all four as soon as I bought it because the "slight misting" actually meant that two of them were now so empty that they provided absolutely no damping force at all. And the cost for me to DIY change all four, ... about £1,200! You have been warned!!!

I have a facelift T5 that was registered late 2004 and it has the 6 speed box and other bells and whistles the 2005 onwards has. May be worth adding it has 17" wheels and 320mm front discs as standard. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up re the suspension. I can't see any advisories for misted shocks on the MOT history. I don't think it has the 4c suspension. But I'll double check. It looks to be a facelift car. Registered late 2004.

So I'm now a Volvo owner.
The car is in pretty good condition. Not immaculate but good. I was sold after the test drive. It drove really well and has reams of paperwork. It was serviced and had new disc and pads just over 100 miles ago. All at main dealer. So I'm really pleased. Except for a couple of niggles. The alarm service warning came on after I refuelled. Not a big deal. On the way home I noticed a high pitched droning kind of sound. As if one of the alloys is resonating. Only between 30-60 mph and only when your turing the wheel slightly to the left. If you put more lock on the sound disappears. Both front tyres are good with even wear. Initial thoughts are a wheel bearing or maybe something to do with the new discs and pads? Any thoughts greatly received. Either way I'll get my local independent to take a look. |
