I think I ran rule out the saddle tank transfer pump - happened again today after brimming it.

I have a full service kit on order as it's 10,000 miles since the last. In the meantime I had a poke around to try eliminate the return line, couldn't find an easy way of disconnecting it.

Sensible thing to do seems to be to fit some clear hose to check for air/dirt in the fuel. Again not sure of the best way to do so.

Advice anyone?

To give some closure to this ancient thread I finally got to the bottom of it. The plastic sleeve surrounding the injector wiring loom had broken down above the fuel pump. The wiring to the fuel pressure sensor had rubbed against the sharp edge on top of the fuel pump and shorted out. Quick wire repair, new sleeving and the issue has disappeared.

Thanks for that final reply. I have the same issue, pressure sensors being flagged up but VIDA shows they are fine. I'll check for your solution.
