Anyone got an S60?
Hi
Anyone on here got the new S60 T5 R-design Edition? What’s the thoughts? Any good? Search doesn’t show up any threads with the new S60. PS doesn’t seem to be a SPA v60/s60 forum group. I assume goes in this one. |

2019 V60 Momentum Pro
The T5 is an excellent choice, assuming you aren't a high mileage user. It is quick off the mark when required, and smooth and quiet. The R design has different seats so won't comment on that aspect. The S60 is a good choice, compares well with the Mercs, BMW, Jag and Audi equivalents. Many here would say better.

Thanks
Interestingly we have a big lardy SPA XC90 D5 R-Design which does 0-60 in 7.8 seconds (and it does takeoff pretty quick for the size of car when in dynamic mode). .... so am also used to the seats. In fact downside of the new volvos is that the cabin/dashboard is pretty much IDENTICAL in all models. You kind of want something “new” in a different model I guess a curse of all modern car ranges. The T5 S60 claims to do 0-60 in 6.5s. You’d think it’d be a bit sharper off the mark than only being 1.3s in front of the xc90!! I’m sure in the “real world” it might feel faster. I always do think the xc90 D5 is pretty responsive for what it is. Ps I’m not that bothered about 0-60 times. More just as one of the many indicators of “punch”. Appreciate gearing etc can come into it. Last edited by soupytwister; Sep 4th, 2019 at 21:12. |

I picked up the new S60 T5 R-Design late in May
Posted one photo and that's been it so far! Don't think there are many S60 III owners on the forums as of yet. Three months, and 2000 miles in do not regret the choice one bit. The engine itself is smooth and has plenty of poke. Gearbox is a bit slow on kick-down but great everywhere else. Interior quality and features superb - I had a toss up between a new 330i and the S60, they are very much on par in terms of interior quality (but the S60 has the kit without paying ££££ for extras on the BMW) I just got mine single stage polished and ceramic coated by a detailer local to me - gloss black come out a treat!

That’s one shiny ride.
What ceramic coating did you have applied?

Is that the 19” or 20” wheels you have on that?

Product used was Max Protect UNC-R - not strictly a ceramic, technically it is a rubber membrane. Surface finish and water beading qualities are really good, if you're into that sort of thing Running on 19"s Please do post photos, haven't seen any colour except black or denim blue yet!

I reckon the S60 will remain quite rare for now. I’ve not even seen one on the road at all as yet. I’ve bought one and never seen one, sat in one, or driven one!!

I saw one last week in the car park of a Premier Inn in Blackburn.
Could have sworn it was an S90 until I seen the badge. I spoke to the owner briefly (since it was raining) and he was very chuffed with it.
