I have a 1973 164E but built to full TE specs. In a very sad state a non runner. Has all the big leather seats etc not been used for roughly 29 years. If anyone would like it for a project or for bits they are welcome to it - no charge - but buyer collects - it will need be taken away on a trailer. Car is in Caterham, Surrey, UK.

Hello. I could be interested in this. Could you say what colour the car / interior is please ? Also is it all rotten, or mechanical problems? I'm presuming it was put off the road due to some sort of problem?

Have PMd you also.

Thanks
Lucien

I had a look at the car. Sadly it's too much work for me, but it is savable and has an interesting history.

Lucien and myself looked the car over, but as he said in an earlier mail, it will need a lot of work to get it well again....
I have lots of 164 spares so will be trailering it to my nearby place in the near future, once the seized brakes have been removed. I have the front calipers off already, and will be returning to remove the rears shortly, then it is ready for towing out of its long-term store.
For interest, so far I have found the following wrong with it: brakes of course, engine seized, wiring loom eaten through by rats, front end damage (wing tops, bonnet and front panel) when garage parapet collapsed on it years ago, rusty door bottoms and some bits removed. However, I have a spares-only 164TE with lots of good bits, so will be active this winter I think!
As has been said, this car has good provenance so will be rebuilt (what the owner really wanted), and as I'm already slowly dismantling two other 164s, used spares no problem. Its those bits needed new that are a problem....
