Default V70 1.6 auto's

My current V70 2.5 diesel 1999 is coming up 20 years old, it is in good nick and only done 232,000. But it does smoke a bit on booting it. I am worried it may not pass the MOT soon.

I have been looking at the 1.6 diesels (auto) and was wondering what they are like? My wife uses the car most, and does about 15,000 miles a year. Are they any good? she is not interested in acceleration etc.... you can only legally get up to 70 so top end is not a concern....just what is the car like?

cheers

The only person I know whom had one no longer does. When I asked him what he thought of it his answer was you do not want one, it's absolutely gutless. In fact he was a manager and would have underlings drive him in it to site visits rather than drive himself if he could.

Take a test drive and decide for yourself but in my experiance of big car small engines makes them hard work to drive. In comparison the same car with a D5 is a dream.

Paul.
