Having had both 145S and 164E back in the day that just looks wrong to me.

No under bonnet photos, so I would hope the cut and shut welding is more like Volvo standard than Vietnamese chicken poo. Interesting to see how much it sells for.

I saw this car about 10 to 15 years ago when I bought some rover p4 parts from the owner, he had several 140s but he knew this one was special and I’m sure he told me it was a professional conversion by Mumford from new along with a handful of others but I didn’t spot the 200 series interior

That is interesting. If it is a genuine professional conversion from new, it needs rescuing. Given it has a 200 interior and doors, I think the whole back end is 200 series. From memory my 145 had a small exposed fuel filler cap, not behind a big flap. Logical that Mumford would use a complete shell and not a bitser from several cars.

MOT history only lists current MOT with perished tyres and slow windscreen washers. Not bad for a new test after storage. Also listed as a Volvo Unknown.

Late 145’s have the same door handles as the 245 and they also have the fuel filler behind the flap. My money is on it being a 145 shell with 164 inner wings and legs grafted on.

https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/clas...164-30-estate/

Lot Number: 03
Estimate: £2,000 - 3,000
• V5 Present
• MoT Oct 2019
• Chassis number: 243576
This Estate is the front part of a 164 saloon and the rear part of a 145, professionally rebuilt by Clutterbuck Coachbuilders sometime, it is believed, during the 1980's. It has had a period of storage, covering around 1,000 miles in the last seventeen years. The vendor's father had owned the car from 2004 until his recent passing. It comes with a few MoTs from the early 2000's when it was last issued at 95,276 miles, tax discs from the 1980's, older V5, a previous owner's description and photo album. The mileage is recorded at 95,571.
