hmm

On close searchup it actually comes up that both 0261230238 and 0261230239 are the same parts (like interchangeable) and that *38 that OP got SHOULD fit no problem. Thats a bit weird now....

moorgate - what is your old fps number? how much different the new part was, ie build-wise?
Soz, been a bit distracted. The replacement was less bulky than the original, which is now of course buried under all the covers and so on, so I can't see the number. I might have been a bit brutal in fitting, but OTOH the fuel rail is covered in fuel, so you might expect a bit of helpful slip! THe combination of carb cleaner on the face of the sensor, and then oil on the shaft with the sealing ring, seems to have completely banished the hesitation, at least in short blasts around town and out to the country over xmas. Going to give it a longer run on the 27th: 550km to Cologne. Let's see whether it stutters this trip!

So! Post-trip update. The thick end of 1,000km in 3 days, across Belgium (twice...) from Calais to Cologne. Not so much as a single, tiny wee stutter from the T5! Not a peep! To recap: this was after doing no more than taking the sensor out, giving it a 1-second squirt with carb cleaner and a half-second squirt with light oil to ease it back into the fuel rail. Of course, it could just be that I disturbed the loom & connectors, and thereby improved the contact or continuity: but I can't see it staying so much better over such a long drive, if that's the cause.
