Default V50 Alarm Fault/Vida

Hi all new to this as just registered out of desperation. I have a 2010 V50 with the alarm activating randomly and driving me mad. Tried new battery in the fob which worked for about 5 days which i though had cured it but no its back with vengeance going off every 20 mins or so. Opened the alarm box and the internal battery read 7.2 volts so assume this is ok. Would anyone in my area (WF11) have the vida software to see if the reason for activation is in the stored codes in the ecu. The alarm does not activate if put in reduced guard with the stereo when exiting the car. Any sugestions???

Almost every occurrence of this I've head of (and had in out S40 and V50) has been down to the siren unit and the battery reaching the end of its life. Replacement of the siren unit has cured it for me the twice I've had it.

Can't help locally with VIDA I'm afraid but when it happened on mine my VIDA setup was all but useless and didn't really help a lot with the fault diagnosis.

before you do anything about your alarm Check your main battery just to see if it has more than 12.50volts? if less could be reason , worth a quick check. john ibbo.

Don't know if this will help, i had a similar problem with my V50 it was driving me mad. In the end i found that i had left my Garmin sat nav in the car which i thought i had powered off. Turns out any device that connects via Bluetooth plays havoc with the alarm system since i have taken the sat nav out and also my phone (left it in the car mistakingly one night) the alarm has not activated randomly at all.

you can add
"lots of coins in the cupholders/cubby box" to the "err hello???" list of random alarm triggers

main culprit tho does seem to be the battery in the siren module.

(a Joy of a job i havent yet had to do)

1 Alarm trigger this morning when a colleague pulled up next to my car but nothing all day since when usually it goes off every twenty mins unless put on reduced guard so hopefully the battery was the problem. Fitted new Bosch stop/start battery to the car about a month ago so was definitely not that.
