Average for my T8 XC60 sits at about 48mpg right now. I only charge it at work, not at home. The last tankful actually averaged more like 58-59 (over 800 miles).
Did a trip of just over 90 miles yesterday and got over 40mpg with battery hold on the whole journey.

Everyone that having Hybrid cars only mention MPG but i am wondering how much have you to pay for electricity when that car is charging?

Back to the T5 petrol! Is 22mpg normal - i did worry that being a direct injection and mine has a highish mileage at 65K that it might be coked up being direct injection but I have checked the pipework and looks like Volvo have been clever as it looks to have a secondary injection into intake manifold to keep valves clean. Perhaps this contributes to worse MPG?

It costs about £1.77 to charge the 11.8kWh battery which gives you about 20 miles of pure electric.

Round town on the T8, you'd get about 20mpg on pure petrol. A gallon of petrol is £5.90.

So about a £4 per 20 mile saving IF you only drive the car on electric only at all times. Or £20 per 100 miles. Or £200 per 1000 miles. etc etc. Obviously no-one ever drives on electric only.

I get about 50-60mpg on my T8 which is a mix of city driving and 2 to 3 x 150 mile trips per tank. I don't know how many charges I do per tank, but it's probably about 10-15 x full charges and I get 600-700 miles per tank (15 gallon tank).

So I reckon costs circa £100 per tank for petrol and electricity (£80 petrol, £20 electricity) - and I get 700 miles out of £100.

.....or you just drive it and not worry too much about it. You could drive yourself mad with the mathematics! While it is using electricity, it is cheaper and cleaner. I won't go into the additional purchase price, battery econess, extra weight, etc!! The driving experience is also nicer as it goes like stink for a 2.3 tonne car, and is quieter and smoother around town.

On my S60 T5, the average was around 25mpg - and that's smaller, sleeker, and lighter than the XC60. So sounds about right to me.

It obviously depends on your tariff - charge overnight and it could be as low as 50p a charge. At other times the amount is probably similar to that mentioned upthread.
The electricity cost is negligible compared to fuel and there are still a reasonable amount of free charging possibilities around.

My XC60 T5 Inscription Polestar, best is 35.65mpg and my average is 30.28mpg, admittedly I don't do many short runs.
Car is coming up to 4 years old and only 13,000 miles.

Sorry should have said that my engine is the T5 Petrol. So 23-25 mpg seems about the normal!

My mate is a engine tuner and tells me that the T5 is a highly tuned 4 cylinder turbo charged engine so its always gona be thirsty!

Anyway. Car has been traded in and I pick up the C Class C43 Estate next week. I thought so it, the V6 bi-turbo gets better MPG than the T5 so lets have a go with that!

Cheers
