Default XC60 RDesign Pro - Fuel Consumption

Hi

So the XC60 R Design Pro Polestar is almost 3 years old now. On the whole I have enjoyed it but I am totally shocked by the awful fuel consumption.

The car has done 30,650 miles and the average fuel consumption is 25.5mpg! Which is awful! My 17 year old Defender TD5 gets 29 mpg for the same sort of journeys.

We did a 350 mile round trip the other day and the best we got was 31 mpg for motorway driving.

Has anyone else experience the same poor fuel consumption?

Is it the Polestar tune, should I get this taken off?

Shame as otherwise a good car!

Cheers

Which engine do you have?
I have D4 ( no polestar ) and my consumptions are:
Long journeys over 100 miles - about 49-52 mpg
Short journeys up to 10 miles i get around 32mpg
All others i get on average 40-44 MPG

My T5 R-Design pro with polestar is averaging 35mpg, on long journeys I get 40mpg. It's going in a few weeks though for a T8 PE.

My T5 is also appalling - around town I am getting 21-22 MPG which is the same as my 4.0 XJS!!
However I love the acceleration of this car plus we bought petrol as we use it for short journeys mostly and a diesel most likely would choke itself and in my experience most petrol cars driven around town deliver pretty poor MPG unless they have any performance tuned out of them which I have found in many modern petrol cars - you put your foot down and they respond in their own time; not the case for the T5 in performance mode!

I test drove a diesel before we bought so was pleasantly surprised by the 'get up and go' the T5 petrol delivers, akin to the original T5 which I guess is why Volvo chose to configure this engine to deliver performance over fuel economy; the only reason I would go for a polestar upgrade would be to improve fuel consumption (if this does indeed improve MPG).

My T5 Momentum Pro is also approaching 3 years and the mileage is just over 33 000 miles

My average consumption over 3 years is 31.9 mpg. It's down from 34 mpg last year as my commute is now 20 miles per day (no motorway)

My V90 D4 R Design with Polestar has now done 50,000 in two years and my average is 46.3mpg. That includes some caravan holidays.
