Oh - I just had another look at the estate - a diamond in the rough. RE: your girlfriend, have you shown her any pics of what the car might look like when it is done??
(A few guys on here should be able to cough-up some pretty good ones.)

Sorry about the 'long pause for effect'
Been busy on the volvos - lets try get this tale up to date..... Well the sleep didn't last so long - I woke up just after 5 freezing to death and the 530d does not get warm on idle for ages so only way to thaw out is to get her moving - full boost up the m6 I got to Glasgow for 8am to ditch the big ol 6 series as arranged - no sign of the guy, no sign at the business address - just an empty looking unit, no one around and no answer on his phone, hmmm Oh well, launched the 635 off the trailer into the driveway, stashed the keys in it and took off I'd been paid upfront so job done I figured.... Next stop - longniddry (east of Edinburgh) to do final get what I really wanted, my estate... 635csi man finally calls back and he's over the moon - happy days So I'm almost to the town where the estate is and yet another phone number that does not get answered After an hour long mystery tour of the town and winding up at a massive potato farm courtesy of the duff postcode, spud farmer boy sent me the right way and bingo ! Up a little gravel road to an old mill and there she was - waiting for me Loaded her up and headed southbound in the sun.... Couple more stops on the way - first in Hawick, borders to hand deliver some mk2 escort seats that I sold on eBay - shocked the poor old bugger when he realised I wasn't a courier but the seller from London. Then to collect an e30 Beemer engine for the trailer owner from some Latvians in Nottingham..... And back to my workshop..... Finally the 2 sat side by side........ 1000 miles in 30odd hours - and the last few were pretty odd ! |

Good luck with the resto and look forward to following your progress. Most things are available but one thing that comes to mind that isn't is the rear window trim. I have some spare bits and bobs if you can't find somethin though.

As in the the Metal tailgate window trim ?
I've kept the from one from the 122s so the front is sorted I'm in Sweden for most of June/July so will be on the hunt for some bits and bobs there.... I bought a full set if NOS front panel and wings for it last weekend But cant help but feel that I need to decide what level I'm going to with the car before I use them as i understand they are so rare to find that maybe they belong on something that is going top level or concourse... |

Yep the upper rear tailgate window trim. Apart from that you can source most things. I have collected spares as I find them for the hard to get bits. I think that is the only trim you can't get. Trim and rubbers add up to quite a lot of cash if buying new and there is suprisingly a lot of them.
There's the Swedish Amazon forum and they also have a facebook page so might be worth dropping a note on them regarding any bits you're after before you head over. Regarding the wings I don't think there is an issue buying them new. I think the Amazon wings are not too bad unlike the new P1800 wings which require a fair bit of work to get them to fit properly. Also where in Oz are you from? Last edited by Burdekin; May 24th, 2012 at 09:42. |

NOS ones aren't necessarily more desirable (pretty sure that the new ones are off the same tooling, although allegedly the lower front edge of the new front panels isn't as well formed as that on the older pressings), but they tend to be available for much more sensible money, as in this case. TBH, I'd just use them unless you already have some decent second hand ones, or are prepared to weld up a rusty set, however AFAIK no repair sections for the front wings & panel are available. Btw, didn't realise that the top tailgate window trim was NLA - pretty sure I'd seen them on the various webshops in the past, however they aren't there now

I have some used spares Paul but I will be quite selective in what I let go as I want a full spare set for myself but if you need some and can't find any let me know.
