V50 2.4i Auto gearbox fault
I have recently purchased my first volvo . After wanting one for a while.
I have a 2006 V50 2.4i Automatic with 117000 miles I have found a transmission problem but don't really know where to go with it When driving at 60-70mph it's fine until I put my foot down. Instead of dropping gear it seems to go into neutral for a moment then back into the original gear. Repeating this until I back my foot of. Creating quite an un-nerving experience for passengers and rubbish for overtaking. Also when it changes from 2nd to 3rd it can make quite a jolt too. Any suggestions as to what's wrong and possible fixes. Cheers |

All you can do is get the transmission oil changed . it is probably black ,and get a software update at a dealer. probably a 75% chance of it being ok after , depending on what is wrong of course . give it a few days after to re adapt before condeming it .

As above!
Change fluid (ensure it is JWS3309 also known as Toyota Type IV (Type 4)). Then have a TCM (Transmission Control Module) software update conducted by a Volvo dealer along with having the ATF fluid counter reset (for the new ATF) and adaptions reset too. It may also be worth getting the B4 servo cover changed too as it is a simple and cheap job but worth being done prior to the change of ATF fluid. B4 Servo cover, complete ATF Fluid change (not just a drop and re-fill), software update, reset fluid counter, reset adaptions. |

Andy,
I have a 2.4 D5 and was wondering if yours was diesel or petrol? Hope you get the problem sorted though. Blueboy

Changing the fluid is always the best course of action as it is often neglected.
