Wonder if there will be an XC60 D8? Might have the same torque as this bad boy. Volvo-articulated-dump-trucks-hauling-the-load-for-Unimin-273957.jpg

Volvo change their engine nomclemanture as often as I change my socks (don't stand downwind).
Mine is 'officially' a 2.4 Diesel (the same engine as the drivE version, but can't be a drivE with a geartronic box) However it has been somewhat breathed on, hence the 215bhp.
As it is a 5 cylinder diesel, and the same engine as in my previous V70 D5 (163bhp) its always going to be a D5 engine to me, no matter how Volvo fiddle about with the badging. To me, a D3 should have 3 cylinders, and a D2 two (might have a vibration period around 1000 to 4500rpm that)!

There used to be D2, D3, D4 D5, and D6 caterpillars also, I know the D2 and the D6 as I drove them at one time

Glad my D5 is a bit easier to drive (and faster!) - mind you I never got blocked in with the D6

You also don't spin the wheels in a few inches of slush.

Although I remember one project where a D7 dozer was bogged up to the top of its tracks. Very very soft marsh type terrain. A D9 dozer was able to tow it out without any problem, barely indenting the same soft ground. Paradoxically the larger dozer exerts less pressure. This is because the tracks are proportionately larger.

Could be wrong but think forum members can vote without leaving a comment so has been updated with only the poll results changing.

Default car choice

my car choice (see my signature) has always been due to my circumstances at the time.

> the first car cost me under £400 when i was about 18.
> the second was after i'd got my first fairly decent job, so i wanted something fairly cool with a bit of oomph but not too pricey.
> the third was the last chance for a few yrs i had to go a bit sporty with some practicality and individuality - loved the drive in that car (but only in the dry)
> the xc60 is because i need the space, and wanted a safe, stylish car with torque that would be pretty comfortable with a few useful gadgets. good brakes too according to which? magazine.

Well I voted in one category and time has not stood still. Do I have to change my selection?
