Lower wishbone bush orientation
Hi All,
Quick question - am I interpreting the service manual illustration (third pic) correctly, in that the 'hole' through the bush (shown from both sides on a 'real' bushing) should be set closest to the road (if the wishbone were parallel to the road, for argument's sake)? The illustration in the manual is a little unclear, but it looks like the irregularly-shaped part of the flanged side of the bush (and with it the 'gap' in the bush) faces down. To my eyes, that distinctive shape (clearly seen in the photo of the bush itself) is lower-most in the photo from the manual, but the latter is a grainy photo. cheers James

If you look at the three lobes of the bushing, two of the lobes are greater than 90 deg in angular spread and the third is perhaps 90 deg or a bit less. With the A arm horizontal, I oriented my bush with the small lobe at the top and the gap between the two larger lobes directly at the bottom, pretty much as you have the bushing oriented in your second photo.
That is how I did it. That doesn't mean its correct. |
