S40 T5 Cornering Grip
So I went on a track day and I'm searching for further cornering and handling gains.
I think I am after more front end grip really but not sure where to go to better things in that area. So far I have the below setup for handling - Bilestein B14 coilovers - 4x light alloys - 4x 235/40/18 95W XL Michelin Pilot Sport 3 - Rear hardline sway bar package so far has been pretty awesome but I feel like I want to push the car harder in the corners now ... so this is where I'm stuck, where do I go to next?

So I have been looking something called a quaife diff and been told about a more track orientated plate diff. does anyone have these? are they worth it?

Hi Dom,
I would seriously consider polybushing your wishbones - in fact I'm of the opinion that you only need to do the large rear bush as the fronts are not subject to the torsional forces that the back ones get battered with. Your handling will become much more responsive and you'll have less dive on braking and less lift on hard launches/gear drop accelleration If I were to do it again I'd have gone for this kit - http://shop.grahamgoode.com/whitelin...28-68766-p.asp The reason why I would opt for this kit is because you wouldn't need to retain the casing of the original bush meaning you can chop right through it with an angle grinder which makes the job much less of a b*stard! When I fit my purple Powerflex ones it was bad enough getting the old bushes off and retaining the casing but also pressing the polybush in was a nightmare too... One is mangled and one is perfect haha... So yes, the above kit will cover some aspects of your handling. As for pushing harder you're better off with a Gripper diff, I've heard that the Quaife ones are sh*t in comparison - I saw a vid of Tim Williams fitting one to a gearbox the other week and I'd take his word for it! Also experimenting with a slightly lower tyre pressure should yield good results, for me on my 17's 32-3psi is best for handling. Hope this helps!

got a gripper lsd in an 850 t5r, which is normally an understeer machine.
completely transformed the car, my friends spend most of their time glued to my passenger door card in amazement at the cornering ability. although im not sure gripper do a unit for the m66, Wavetrac definitely do.

Just updating an old threat again for anyone looking to improve cornering on the P1 platform.
Am going down the route of polybushing as mentioned by Yobbo here and Looking at getting a gripper diff mentione by DunkinBiskits. Tim William does a pretty good deal on gripper diffs, so will get him to fit one on soon. Also look at getting a front splitter and some front canards to get more aero down force on the front. Lightening is also on the cards so front seats will be swapped out for racing seats as well as the rear seats being removed in the spring for summer track days (Need to cure exhaust drone before removing seats otherwise it will be deafening)
