Never use non volvo parts on these critical belts and tensioner parts they gave trouble wrecking heads on your particular 2011 car when the aux belt broke. and various modifications took place until 2014 You need the dealers advice as to whether the recall and modification took place back then. Volvo wont be out of stock on this common service item. something wrong somewhere.

The aux belt must be changed every 54000 miles and the tensioner every 108000 miles with the cam belt and it's tensioner.

all above assuming you have the 5 cylinder diesel.

Thank you this info.
My car is serviced by my local independent garage. Our mechanic visited the local dealer's parts department and was told the required part not available. They had a few on their system but not the exact part presented to them by our guy.
I think we go back and discuss based on your comments.

what you said sounds as if the parts person didnt know what he was doing , they look up the part, see if it is in stock , if so you get it' if not they get it for you within hours they have 3 deliveries from volvo a day. if they are out of stock it comes from Sweden the next day or two.. I would try a well established dealer parts dept like FRF swansea or Keith Price Abergavenny especially' they know the true situation and will help you.

Followed your advise.
Talked to Keith price in Abergavenny who directed me to a garage local to me. David Pengelly, Nottingham was super helpful and was able to complete the job for us.
He has access to the special tool needed to convert from one type of tensioner to another.
Thankyou again for your support

Excellent result 👍 now change the Aux belt every 54000 miles it is essential and it's tensioner every 108000 miles/10 years together with the cambelt and IT'S Tensioner....

You wouldn’t of thought there would be still some cars running about with the old hydraulic tensioner on by now!
