Default XC90 B5 Auto Wipers

I like to leave the auto wipers on, but find that if I park the car in direct sun, when I get in to start the car, raining or not, the auto wipers activate, scraping dust and stuff across a dry screen....... anyone else experienced this?

I haven’t had the software update yet that provides this facility but is/was common on both of our Mercedes
Sun has a similar effect as rain at times, very annoying

I took the auto wiper memory off in Sensus because this was happening to mine every morning on first start up, dust was putting fine scratches on the screen.

I do not miss not having it start on auto, its no hardship just to press the stalk switch if it starts raining.

It’s just having had a D3 Discovery with the auto wiper option, turning it off on the Volvo feels a bit like a downgrade lol!

The Volvo auto wipers have always been a bit of a let down, I had a VW Touareg hire car a while ago and the auto wipers on that car were perfect, much better than Volvo's poor performing ones. This is my 4th Volvo with auto wipers and they have all been poor.

The auto wipers on my XC90 are by far the worst I've had on any car in the last 20+ years - yes, they are that bad.

Sometimes it's lashing down and they only operate on a long interval but other times they operate at full speed with hardly any rain. It's the unpredictability that's so annoying.

And don't get me started on the painfully slow electric windows...

I've never had a Volvo who's auto wipers work well... And it's simple systems like this not working properly that really reduces my confidence in the more complex systems.

My favourite 'Volvo-ism' though is the self-parking system which couldn't 'see' white cars and always tried to drive into them.

I see in the settings on Sensus since the last update there is a tick box for courtesy wipe. Maybe turning that off would stop this? It frustrates the hell out of me!
