That's what they're installing in the new Grenadier / Defender alternative.

I think that either you've something wrong, or you should remove your dive boots when you leave work. I've the 4.4l V8 petrol and I regularly average only ~ 4 to 5 MPG less than that, on a diet of mostly short runs.

My previous XC90, a 2005 D5 163, never gave under 30 MPG ave. for the same.

Ours was the humble 525d - three litres, but at 195(?)bhp not a rocket ship. Quick enough for an old f**t like me though!

You need to have the Volvo Polestar optimised, Pidgeonpost!

I wonder would you see an improvement in your average MPG...?

I do have somewhat of a heavy foot, but I think the main issue is the short journeys I do frequently, on a good motorway run I am more than happy with the MPG.

I have no issues running wise, no faults, no errors on vida. I've all the bits needed to do a full service including a gearbox flush again, all I need is the weather, perhaps that will grant me a few extra MPG's once done.

Coasting in neutral on downhill bits is always worth a few mpg

And the all important eco tyre pressures and regular checks can make a massive difference to our daily MPG.

TPMS, in my experience, is not as reliable as we may think it is. I've seen 3 to 4 PSI of a variation accros the front tyres which wasn't picked up by the system 🤔

That might be nice, though I'm not sure a 15-year-old transmission would be too keen! There's also the insurance question. A couple of years ago I enquired about a remap for our other car, and the insurers wouldn’t cover me despite me already having a current policy with them. This for a mild remap on a diesel Yeti for heaven's sake!
I think my relatively poor mpg is mostly down to short trips in a hilly area.
