Default white smoke

Hi all I recently made a post about possible oil leaks etc and was told to change the pcv system. Not managed to get round to it just yet. However there is now alot more white smoke coming from the exhaust and for longer than before and there is also a slight drop in power and an increase in fuel consumption.
Could this still just be the PCV system is totally knackered now or is something more major wrong now?

Thanks all.

Have you been keeping an eye on your coolant level?

Condensation is common around this time of year, but if it's excessive white smoke, it can (worst case) be head gasket. Hence the coolant level question.

PCV system causing oil to be pushed through seals and burning off would appear as blue smoke.

i've had the cat off and just a straight pipe in its place and made no difference so put the cat back in as couldnt stand the boy racer noise. I'm planning on getting a new few this year and taking the volvo off the road to fix all its problems and good as new. So I need to know where to look for the problems.
