hi all
i am new to the forum i have a 1998 v70 2.5t i recently had some work done and the mechanic noticed the front struts were loose so he is going to relace the top mounts and new shocks as the old ones are leaking but the price seems very high £678 is this right any help appreciated cheers |

What is he replacing them with, genuine items?

hi i think the shocks he is getting are sachs
he says the really expensive bits are the strut mounts lower parts |

Although I have not tried these mounts yet I have only heard good things from these IPD units http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...oducts_id=6314 Although PFV is expensive compared to others the above will hive you a good idea on prices |

the mechanic said that the strut mount lowers are dearer than the strut itself seems unlikely |

it seems so as the parts are £45 each on pfv i will have to pull him on it tommorow as i dont really fancy getting mugged off.

got to agree with tony tbh its not a very hard job to do your self just buy a haynes or cd rom and follow the steps will save you abit of candy.
Depending on what your wanting you can buy a full set of koni fsds now for £400 and a set of top mounts which arnt expensive.

yes he said for the strut mounts top and bottom both sides will cost 328 quid on their own!!
im losing heart in the car now only had it since march and it has cost me a fortune so far when it works it is lovely to drive though lol |
